Tascam dr-60d DSLR audio recorder and mixer.

Tascam has a new DR-60d recorder and mixer that will do four channels of audio while attached to the bottom of your DSLR.

This thing looks great. High quality recording and a mixer in a nice small $350 unit. Supposed to have high-quality preamps and it has a safety track feature to record a duplicate channel at -6 or -12db down. It will record four channels so you can have a small shotgun in the hot shoe and still have two lav mics for your subjects.

How do you think the pre amps will compare to the Marantz PMD661MKII?

All the sound tests I have heard the Marantz PMD661 [MK 1] wins hands down.

I have seen very little about the Marantz PMD661MKII online, is there a reason I’m missing as to why no one seems to be excited by it? I know the mk2 doesn’t really have any improvements over the original, maybe thats why?

This Tascam looks great though, but I was disappointed by the DR-40, which makes me question this..

(Ohh, and I appreciate the Marantz and this are two very different beasts, but I’m interested purely from a final sound result as opposed to bells and whistles comparisons)
